Happy National Gluten Free Day!
Today I'm going to be sharing a play dough recipe that I've used both at home, and when I worked at a private preschool. Everyone deserves to have some squishy dough to play with even with allergies! Ingredients:
1 cup rice flour
1 cup corn flour
1 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups water
Mix ingredients in a large bowl, leaving out the food coloring
Heat one cup mix in a small saucepan (nonstick works best) add some food coloring (a few drops at a time) to reach the desired color to this mixture.
Stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, cook over low heat for about 5 minutes. Consistency will be very runny at first but once it starts to thicken mixture will firm up quite fast - KEEP MIXING so it doesn't burn!
Remove from heat and knead to remove lumps (if any).
Repeat with rest of mixture so you have different colors! Keep in an airtight container
