The Fool's Journey
This blog post is going to be the first of eighteen on tarot. I've had a list of tarot journaling prompts saved as plain text in a document for the past five or so years - I have no idea where it came from so if you know who created it, or where it's from, please let me know so I can give credit!
Today's prompt is: "What do you think of the journey of the fool as a metaphor for the journey though life and life's challenges?"
I think that the Fool's Journey and our journey through the Major Arcana aligns well. I can see many of the archetypes that are prevalent in the general arch of someone's life. I feel that the Major Arcana are the big plot points in many of today's media which would explain how one would think of them as a metaphor for life.
You have the Fool card itself - striking out on your own which many folks do while not being 100% prepared. There's no such thing, right? Then you travel on through, making use of resources, learning about yourself, your inner world, falling in love, dealing with heartbreak and betrayal, difficult times. The Major Arcana has it all.
I think that if you add the minor arcana in as well you are able to fill in those little details to give a greater life picture and story. Overall, I think that the Fool's Journey is a pretty spot on metaphor for life's journey!
