One Year of Journaling: Knowing Myself Deeply

On March 14th, I hit my 365 days of journaling milestone. There aren’t many things in my life that I stick with long term – so making it a whole year of nightly journaling is a feat for me. I made a commitment to myself one year ago that I was going to journal no matter what. Throughout that year there have been entries that are a few sentences and entries that are pages long. There are pure “dear diaries” and there are lists, business planning, washi tape, stickers, book reflections, song lyrics I love, prayers, and so much more. I’ve journaled through sickness, through anxiety, through elation. I didn’t care how long the entries were, I just needed to put something on the page and I’m so fucking proud of myself for holding to that.

When I first picked up that pen and opened my journal, I had no idea where this path would take me. All I knew was that I wanted a space where I could pour out my thoughts, feelings, and dreams without any judgment. Little did I know that this simple act would become a powerful tool for understanding myself on a whole new level. I chose to journal at night before I went to bed to get all my rushing thoughts out from the day, any frustrations that might keep me up.

One of the most magical things about journaling is its ability to capture the essence of our innermost thoughts and emotions. Each page becomes a mirror reflecting back to us our fears, hopes, and desires. Through journaling, I’ve learned to embrace both the light and the shadow within me, recognizing that every part of myself deserves love and acceptance.

But journaling isn’t just about introspection; it’s also a journey of self-expression and creativity. From doodles and sketches to poems and prose, my journal has become a canvas where I can unleash my imagination and let my inner artist run wild. There’s something incredibly liberating about putting pen to paper and allowing my thoughts to flow freely without any limitations.

As I look back on this past year, I’m filled with gratitude for the gift of journaling. It has been a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, and I know that it’s only the beginning. So here’s to another year of diving deeper into the labyrinth of my own soul, armed with nothing but a pen, a blank page, and an open heart. 🌟

If you’ve been thinking about starting your own journaling practice, I highly encourage you to take that leap. It might seem overwhelming, but again it doesn’t matter how long the entries are, or what format they take. Even if making a bullet point list of 5 things you want to remember from the day.

Trust me, the insights and discoveries that await you are truly beyond imagination. So grab your favorite notebook, find a cozy corner, and let the magic of journaling begin! 💖 #JournalingJourney #SelfDiscovery #PersonalGrowth #CreativeExpression #Reflections #Gratitude #MindfulLiving 🌸
